Problem Solving-Week 3

WALT: Find a fraction of a number.

I have learnt this week that is might just be easier if you change the question around. For example: multiply don't divide, divide don't multiply, add don't subtract and subtract don't add. Those all helped me but the one that helped me the most was multiply don't divide.

Definition Of Adaptation

WALT: Find the meaning of Adaptation

Definition From Google:
a change or the process of change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to its environment.

What I think:
I think that adaptation a species that has changed the way the live in their environment. They have to be living there, or have been living how they live for hundreds or millions of years, the species can not just change the way they live and move on.

One animal who I think adapts well is the Diving Bell Spider. They live their entire life under water in a air bubble. They only have to come up to the surface once a day to fill their air bubble. Except for that they live under water. The air bubble is made of web that they make to make webs.

Our School Production-Reflection

On the twenty second to the twenty fourth of September, our school had a production. The Production was about Cindy who meets a boy named Josh. It was a production about Cinderella but Pt England style though. I was in the production, sadly nothing important but still in it. Even though I was nothing important, I still enjoy being a dancer.

Since I was a dancer, I was in three dances. I really hope I can be in the next production. Before the Production was seen by an audience, we had to practise hard every week. The first real audience we performed to two whole schools, a bit of another school and other people who do extra things for us in our school. We performed for them at twelve o’clock on the twenty first of September.

On the first night of the production, I was really scared to perform in front of my family. I just acted like my sister who was the main act (Cindy)  and pretended that I wasn’t scared. When I went onto the stage I was not that nervous. All I was thinking about was what I would do in the holidays and how I could make it fun for myself. I am pretty sure that I looked good from a view in the audience.

On the twenty first, twenty second, twenty third, twenty fourth and twenty fifth our school produced a production about Cindy. The whole title is Cindy In Da House, the production was about a story based on Cinderella but a bit different. On the twenty first, the matinee was shown to three other schools other than Pt England School and two preschools.

The three other days it was shown at night at seven o’clock. On the twenty fifth, the production was performed to the whole school who was there. It was not as good as the night productions and the matinee.

Because it was performed four times, that meant a lot of practice for the people in the production. Lots of people said it was great so the people in the production didn’t practise for nothing. Cindy In The House was awesome from my point of view, but I don’t know about the next production. If I were to give a rating a would give it a big 4/5.

The San Diego Zoo

WALT: Think about my purpose and reader by planning my recount.

The class was called to the mat and our teacher said that we were, “going to the Zoo”! Everyone was excited until we saw on our class site that we were just going to visit the San Diego Zoo website. I was very very very very…  disappointed.

In writing we have been learning like writing two introductions and marking one. This one my friend marked and I thought that I would put in the first one I wrote on my blog. Comment to say if you agree with Rima or not.

In Maths this week, I have learnt that when you have a short amount of time, it is good to have a team to work with. In my Team I had two other people. We got the job done by helping each other. I hope I can work with them because they were easy to work them.

Room 6 Fear Factor

WALT: Think about my purpose and reader by planning my recount.

Today was a normal day in writing, until Mr Goodwin did something weird and crazy. He only does this some days but I think this is the day someone just might vomit. Sorry I forgot to say what our teacher was doing, he was making a Fear Factor for our class!

What I think about the fear factor challenge

In writing this week, I learnt that when planning writing it is good to plan the whole thing not one by one. It might nolt work for you, but it works for me. The top writing below the WALT is the introduction to the whole writing. The rest is the planning for the rest of the writing.


WALT: Summarize information into presentations.

 This Week I have learnt about Grasslands and the animals that live in it. I have also learnt about what sort of animals there are. For example: an carnivore is a lion an that means that lions only eat meat. There are lots that I learnt about grasslands, like that the lion king was set in grasslands.

I learnt that if you have more than one question that can be solved the same way, you can look back at the other one/s to solve it again. That is what I did in the problem solving. I hope I can learn more things like this in the future.
