Xtra Math

WALT: Learn my basics facts.

From the first week of term one to today the 26 of May, I did Xtra maths and now I am on two second's and heading for one to get another account to do it again. We do Xtra maths because children in New Zealand haven't learnt their basic facts. So this is a very good program for children who are struggling with their basic facts.

In maths we have been sitting on the mat almost every day so we can know our basic facts. Because I have finish three seconds, I can move over to the two seconds. Hope you enjoyed and actually read what this blog post was about.

20 Hour Famine 2015!

Extension:

On Friday last week on the twenty second of may, I started the 20 hour famine with the extension group. The extension group of 2015, did the 20 hour famine. We all did the challenge with no food for 20 hours. We had a sleep over so we can do the 20 hour famine with some one and have fun instead of thinking of food.

I think it is a great thing that we did this because we can help the people in Bangladesh and collect money for them so they can live the same way we do instead of them living on the edge of the road. To help the people in the world who have nothing and sleep nowhere near where we sleep. If you can, try and help the people all around the world who don't have what we do.

Well I was doing the 20 hour famine, I was really thinking how much I am doing and how much other people are doing the 40 or 20 hour famine. We were doing this for the people who don't have much and need money. We are getting the money and giving it to them so they can eat healthy and live like us. When I was doing the 20 hour famine, I also was thinking about how I could help a whole family eat. I think it's not fair that they do not get the options that we have and not just for food. That's why I joined the 20 hour famine for this year. I have raised money for family or family's in Bangladesh and I felt like I need to do this next year to raise money for the people who are suffering.
pre

In extension, most of us did the 20 hour famine. We had a sleepover to think about what we were doing. Hope you enjoyed.

Pt England Students are Getting Ready for the Coldest Season!

WALT: Write a news style report.

Pt England Students are Getting Ready for the Coldest Season!
By Talita 26/5/15
Winter is coming in five days and that means that rain, frost and hail is coming with it. Some Pt England students have some advice for other students walking to school in their year and area.

Winter is coming to Auckland, New Zealand. Auckland Winter weather involves.. storms, sometimes thunder, rain, fog, frost and much more bad weather, but we do not have snow
which is good for some people. People  in Auckland will have to walk to school, shops, church and some people have to walk everywhere… in the rain and other things!

Pt England is a school in Auckland, New Zealand and most of the students who go there have to walk in the rain to get to school. They don’t get affected just by the rain, they get affected by other things that make them not want to go to school but they need to go to school because of their learning. Some Pt England students have advice for each other for what to bring when you are walking in the rain.

It is very important to go to school even though there is rain because. You never know if you might get kicked out of a sport’s team because you didn't turn up to a tournament or you did not turn to something important like that. Rima, a student who walks to school says,”my parents make me go to school no matter what, unless I am very sick or it is very important matter. I think that people should start using things like umbrellas, warm clothes and eating warm food for breakfast like pancakes and hot chocolate”.

Terry Christchurch Interview

WALT: Find proof of the authors message.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Terry is a young boy who lives in New Zealand and loves playing video games especially the game called Krang Castle. Terry has a Mum and a pet mouse called mickey and had to live with his Aunt and Cousins for a few months until their house was built, his happen after the 2011 Christchurch earthquake.

What are your thoughts on the Christchurch earthquake?
I thought it was a tragedy and I was very upset because some of my family lived there and they had to live with us for a few months until their home was built and they left recently and gave me the game which is called Krang Castle. I was also very upset because the people who survived, had their homes destroyed but I did ask my mum if I or she could do anything for them, so we went down to Christchurch and help some people there who were in trouble.

If an earthquake hit your city, what would it mean for you?
It would mean a lot because my mother or my mouse Mickey might get hurt or it could be worse than that and I would be alone. Another thing is my computer will be gone and I cannot play on my video games. This would only happen if the level of the earthquake was high then this would happen. I might even have to go and live with someone else for a few months like my aunt and cousins

How would your react in an earthquake?
I would be scared and do what they taught me at school for the last seven years which is…  Drop, Roll, Cover. I think I would go underneath a strong table or chair and tell my mother and bring my little mouse Mickey with me.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Task:Write an Interview on who your charter from your story about the Christchurch earthquake  in 2011.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This week in reading we were learning about finding and digging into the text of the book and find the proof of the authors message. If you thought this was a good bad or great interview, comment to tell me how it was. I hope you enjoyed!

Two Pigs are Murdered and One little Pigs Survives

WALT:Write a news style report.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Talita V
12/5/15

Three little pigs who recently have left their mothers home have been viciously attacked in their own homes. Two have had their homes destroyed as well as been killed by a wolf. The last pig survived the attack without being injured.

One of the little pigs who have been killed, build his home with straw and the wolf was able to blow his home down as well as to eat him. The other little pig who were killed by the wolf, built his home out of wood sticks and the wolf was able to blow down his home and eat him. These two pigs were found dead by their destroyed homes.

The last pig who survived was smart and built his home out of bricks just like his Mothers home. He tricked the wolf and killed the wolf instead of the wolf killing him. He did this without getting hurt or injured. He was the smartest and we had a talk with him. Here it is and his Mama pig.

The last pig
What was your reaction when you found out about your brothers loss? I was very upset and went to see my Mama pig to tell her and she was very upset and said to me”you have to live with me now” so now I am living with her in case there is another wolf to attack me.
Were you worried about the wolf when he came to your home? I had a little butterflies in my tummy (but I think that was something else) because I saw that my brothers homes were knocked down ,but I knew that the wolf wouldn't blow down my because it was strong and I knew I could trick him.
page 2 Were you sad when you and your brothers left your Mama Pig? I am now but I did go back to my Mama pig but I am very upset that I could not bring back my brothers with me.

Mama Pig
What was your reaction when you found out about your son’s loss? I was very upset and every day I think of them and now it is a very sad day every day because of the wolf that nearly killed me and killed my son's.
What is your house made out of? It is made out of bricks just like my son’s home that he is going to live in when I say so, it is made out of bricks because of the wolf when he nearly killed me. The wolf did blow down my first home made of straw and the second home that was made out of wood sticks and then I made this home for my son's.

2. If an earthquake hit your city, what would it mean for you?
If it was a small earthquake and nobody died or their homes were destroyed then it would mean no that much, but if our homes were destroyed and some people losted their family then it would mean a lot to me.
