Our Waka- Week 8

WAATS (we are at the stage): Of ripping the stencil off the waka.

You may not see the wool between the nails but the people who are in Hikianalia and are not in the waka crew finished this stage. We have done a few changes and touches. Our teacher came around to us to give us little tips so we could do some finishing touches after we had taken our stencil off. After this photo was taken, we took our stencil off. Some of the string broke so we fixed that up. We also added some things to make it look more detailed.

Wood and Nail Art-Week 7

WAATS: (We Are At The Stage) Of nailing nails on the waka stencil.

This is what are waka is looking like right now. We have already done our letters for how waka's name (Hikianalia). Next week we will be getting our wool, onto our waka nails. The Letters of Hikianalia was tricky to fill in with wool. We started two weeks ago and in those weeks we have got this done. Everyone who is in the house of Hikianalia (including me) worked on getting to this point of finishing.

This is not the only project going on in this class. There is a waka being built. It is being built by the waka crew. The waka crew is a some people from wood and nail art who choose to be in the waka crew to built the waka.

Malama Honua

WALT:Write one paragraph of a recount on your own.
------------------------------------------------------------------
On the twenty fourth of March, all the local schools in the Manaiakalani came together to Pt England beach to welcome the Hokele'a and Hikianalia. These two canoes are on a journey that is called Malama Honua. We were very blessed that they could go down to Pt England beach and greet them with singing and speeches. They created a movie about this greeting and you can find it at the Manaiakalani website.
