• Guess how many cubes are one colour and guess how many is the other colour

Holiday Highlight

Barbecue, lots of beaches, water holes and the perfect summertime place to stay in my opinion. Can you guess where is the place where I went for the Holidays?  If you guessed Tairua you are correct.

How we went

My family had been wanting to go on a trip somewhere that is not home. My Mum knew some people when she was in Samoa, knew where they lived. She arranged for us to come for the Auckland Anniversary weekend.

Arriving

I’m going to skip a few days when we arrived at Tairua in our car. We were very excited to see the family that we were staying with. Everyone unpacked the car and my brother, sister and me blew up the air beds. When we were done we heard we that we were going to do something fun.

First Day

The Dad of the family took us for a walk on Ocean Beach while my Mum and their Mum of their family, cooked some dinner on the barbecue. While we were looking at Ocean Beach, we saw somebody get pushed over by the huge waves. We recognized them and realized that it was my brother. A few minutes later we started our walk that I thought was on the beach but turned out to be a three hour walk around a mountain. We started walking to a bench then looked at the beautiful view. We keep walking for another hour or so, and reached the road. We finished an hour later and came back to their home. My family and their had dinner which was very delicious. After dinner we went to bed and had a good night sleep in our tents.

Second Day

When we woke up from our great sleep in our tent, we went into the house and had breakfast. I’m going to skip a few hours and move on to noon. We got ready to go to a water hole then to a beach called sailors grave. First we went to the water hole which had eels but we only saw one that was huge. My sister used some goggles, she looked under a rock and said that she saw a pair of eyes and thought that it was a crocodile. We left a minutes after she saw that and went to sailors grave. At sailors grave there were very big waves compared to Auckland’s waves. We spent thirty minutes there and went because it was dinner time. Once we had dinner we went to sleep.

Leaving Tairua

When we woke up, we had breakfast and got ready to go to jump off the bridge down the road. We spent twenty minutes jumping off the bridge. That was the last fun thing that we did in Tairua. From then we justed packed, got into the car, said goodbye and left to come back home.

In reading this week we have been focussing on recount. But I have been focussing on recount and getting out os the holidays. I think I have mostly been focussing on recounts. I hoped that you enjoyed my recount! 

The Duffy Show

Duffy Show Recount

Monday afternoon, years four to eight had the opportunity to watch a Duffy Show. It all started when we lined up to go to the hall to watch the Duffy Show. Once we were there, two women were there playing simon says well the other classes came in. When we were all there, one of the women said to everyone to say “come in Duffy!”. We all said it and Duffy came in. He came in and he introduced himself and so did the two women. After that, Duffy got his guitar out and started playing the Duffy song.

Begin of the show

Once we finished the song they told us the names of the characters.They were the Mum, Sienna, Duffy and the Liberian. When they were done saying the characters, they said the main three rules. Which were be quite, stay seating and have fun and have fun while watching. After that, we finally started the show. The show started and Duffy said what the show was about, which was him encouraging Sienna to read book instead of watching the Television.

What happen?

This story was about a girl name Sienna who love watching Television but not reading books. One day Sienna’s Mum, left to go to work. Her Mum was asked for  some help from Sienna with her homework but her Mum keep walked out the door to go to work. Duffy was at the library getting out a book with library card, Sienna saw him and thought, “he’s rich cause he’s got a visa card”. He came out of the library and Sienna asked Duffy “where did you get that visa card from, Duffy replied,”this isn’t a visa card, it’s a library card”. She was confused, but Duffy explained it to her. She told Duffy about how she did not like reading and she liked the T.V way better. Duffy and Sienna went into the library and Duffy got the librarian and told her how Sienna just watches T.V and did not like reading.  The librarian and Duffy, tried to get Sienna’s favorite things like…    shape, colour and things to do, they all related to the T.V. They asked her their last thing which was movie and she said Harry Potter, they got the book out and research the author of the book which was Rowl. After that I didn’t get to watch the rest of the show.

Conclusion

I was very sad because I didn’t get to see the rest of the show. Apart from that, it was great. One of the things that I am thinking in my head is that I couldn’t stay to see the rest of the show. My last thought about the show would be that it was good ending for me and I have heard about the ending and sounded good. This show has encouraged me to encourage other people to read.

This week and last week in writing, we have been writing recounts and learning about them. I have learnt that a recount is some thing that gets me thinking alot. I think it will help you to. I also hope that you enjoyed my writing!
