Onomatopoeia

WALT: Use onomatopoeia to help create interest in our writing.

In the spooky night, a lady went to the door and
The door opened it self.

This week in writing, we learnt about onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia is a word that mimics the sound of the object or action it refers to. When you pronounce a word, it will mimic its sound. For example; "splat" went the drink onto the ground, there goes the alarm again "buzz". Click here for more examples of words.

Adventurous Adverb

WALA(we  are learning about): Adverbs and how to use them effectively.

In class with Ms Tito, we have been learning how to make different sentences saying how, where and when. Our teacher said that we get something if we do one in Maori. Once I heard that, I  thought I can just do three of them Maori. If you have the time, you can guess what the three Maori words are. The pictures are clues so it will probably be easy.

Using Similes With Ms Tito

WALHT(we are learning how to):use similes to describe things in our writing to capture our audience.

In Reading this week with Ms Tito, we have been learning about similes. I have learnt that you have to use either as or like in a simile. For example; Yvonne is as pretty as me. We compare one thing to the other with a as or like in the middle of it.
