A gymnast down

WALT: Write a narrative based on a picture of the modern Olympics.

Ella sat and looked upon her fellow competitors. She had a good stare at each gymnast station. In her head she knew that the beam was indeed the station she wanted to win in. Her coach came to her, “you’ve trained too hard to back out now”. She didn’t want to disappoint anyone, but the gymnast’s this year looked pretty high in the standards of gymnastics. “Miss Rasman”, the official called. “Miss Rasman, your up in twenty minutes”. Ella turned to the official and nodded. This was her year for three golds.

“No way I’m backing out now”, she told her coach. Ella faced her coach and he smiled. She then asked for some encouragement. A huddle was formed with Ella, her coach and her mother. Ella’s light brown hair bun, rested against her mother while her coach gave some encouraging words. “I hope that Ella Rasman will get a Gold and all her hard training will go to work”, her coach said.

It was time for the women's Olympic beam final. Ella had butterflies in her stomach caused by nervousness. She started the routine, before she knew it she was half way. With the splits in the air emotion came to her facials. Ella shook like crazy, fell and fainted. Without a blink of an eye the medical attention team came.

Her mother nor coach were there. Ella made a high pitch scream. Heavy puffing came from Ella as she was surprised. Surrounded her was four walls with two windows. An alarm went off next to her, it was 8:00 in the morning. That moment she realized it was all a dream (and she was in a hotel room). This was the actual day that Ella Rasman would compete for the beam final.
The whole dream was a bit confusing. I guess her dream works are pretty mean to her. A flock of butterflies rushed down through Ella as she was about to compete in the beam. She was ready alright. That day she won gold and was presented her medal. Ella Rasman had won her Olympic dream(to win three golds)!

This week we wrote a narrative based on a picture. My picture was of Aly Raisman, a gymnast from the U.S.A. She has won three medals for Rio 2016. One gold and two silvers. When we edited our writing, some of us presented and read it to the class. One thing that my teacher said to check is the sentence types. Sentence types such as... simple sentences, compound sentences and complex sentences. Here is an example of a simple sentence.
A splash appeared from behind the dolphin. Simple sentences only have one clause. Here is an example of a compound sentence. The man focused his eyes on the snow because the sun was to bright. Compound sentences have two clauses which is joined with a conjunction.

The Woods

WALT: Write a narrative that has detail explaining the the basics things needed in a good narrative.

For the first time in the twins life, they were late and this was dreadful. “What a bummer” said Mrs Thompson staring at Riley and Scarlett who were never late. Riley was quite tall for her age. Riley flicked her brown hair to one side and sighed. She turned her head to Theo who was sitting next to the twins who was also late. She shook her head and gave him an invitation to detention. Late comers always go to lunchtime detention in Room 3. Since the twins didn’t like Theo, they all had to sit next to each other during detention.

“We should probably get on with the show” their teacher told the class. Already on the chalkboard was written neatly what's happening that day and everyone’s name for individual class points. Their teacher wrote on the board the word ‘assignment’. Underneath she wrote that this assignment included a field trip. Nobody said anything but everyone was celebrating silently to themselves. Mrs Thompson turned from the chalkboard and the class stopped celebrating. “This assignment will be about biodiversity, it’s problems and how we can improve it” spoke Mrs Thompson. “We will be going with other classes”, she added.
The classes were very loud and noisy but Scarlett sat in the long black back seat of the bus. She focused her attention on a piece of paper that was filled with her teachers handwriting. Scarlett took a step out of the bus and had a good stare at the bus. Riley was standing right next to her. “What are you looking at?”, Riley asked. Scarlett faced her sister and moved her eyebrows towards the bus. “Ok, but I mean why?” Riley stopped talking. In the corner of her eye there was a beam of light coming down from the sun towards one of the buses.

Theo was calling out for help because everything that was surrounding him was frozen. He heard an astonishing powerful voice which sounded like the smartie pants, Riley.  The boy walked slowly to where Riley and Scarlett stood. “What is this and why is it happening?”, Theo spoke with a demanding tone. “I don’t know” Riley spoke to his face, “but we have to save the city and whoever else that is having this weird issue”. The three kids walked home to grab their bikes and met at the park at ten o’clock sharp.

As they headed into the woods again, they noticed track marks on the ground and broken twigs beside the marks. Then a high pitched scraping noise came from afar. Suddenly, right in front of their eyes, they saw what appeared to be a roof jutting about a foot out of the ground. They moved around the trees, down a handmade ladder and around to the front of a old wooden shack like hut. The three looked at each other and Scarlett stepped forward and knocked on the door. They could hear footsteps approaching and the door creaked open. To their surprise a grey haired old man stepped out of the hut. He invited them inside for a hot coco.

“I froze time to find my sweet, lovely granddaughter” he explain to them. “Who is she?” they all screamed. “Mrs Thompson”, he said with an uncertain tone. The three were very surprised. They told this old man that Mrs Thompson was their teacher. “I needed to see her!” he cried. Everyone put hands on him and Scarlett said, “you didn’t need to freeze time you just needed to get out of this hut and go to her”. The old man turned to the three and spoke, “you can call me Mr Johnson”. Everybody else told him their names. They brought him outside up the handmade ladder passed a few trees and out of the woods trail.

Everyone was frozen and Mr Johnson was having second thoughts of meeting his granddaughter again. He walked up to her and unfroze time. Then he hugged her, but she didn’t seem to like it. “Who are you?” she asked disgustedly. She stared into his eyes and she regretted asking that question. Mrs Thompson regretted asking because she knew exactly who it was. Mr Johnson nearly took a step back to his hut but before he could the biggest hug ever was made. “I’m sorry”, Mrs Thompson said. The grandfather and granddaughter are still in touch to this day and they couldn’t be more happier.

The Wisher

WALT: Make the reader interested.

As I tip toed to door which lead to my clothes, sounds of creaks coming from my bedroom floor became louder. My last step was made and I took a key from my pocket, into the lock it went and boom! I was in my dream world. Butterfly formed a circle which lay on my head. There was a strange object lying on the fresh green mowed grass. It almost looked as if it were a book. Thin pages, thick cover and very strange. As I climbed foot by foot, my hairy hand reached the top of the cover. I closed my eyes and when I finally opened them I was in my room resting my head on a fluffed up soft pillow. Never had I ever had a fluffed up soft pillow.

For some reason I was not having a very nice sleep. A sight in the corner of my eye caught my attention. I turned my head quickly to the window and there it was again. Twice in one night shooting stars shooted passed. “I wish for warm milk and cookies, like in the movies”, I wished. Steps were made at a normal speed walk. “Mum, is that you?” I asked. There was no answer just my mother with a plate of milk and cookies in her hands. She stared at me with a look that meant, I felt like I needed to. The cookies and milk were placed on my bed side table. First I checked the clear glass of white light blue caped milk. It was warm and I picked up the homemade fresh chocolate chip cookies and dipped it into the perfect tempered milk.

Since this wish had just came true I wished, what I thought was going to be the last thing to wish. “I wish for no school tomorrow” I wished. The next minute both of my parents came into my room. “Your younger sister and brother, your two older sisters, your older brother, you, your mother and I”, my dad listed “will be filling our mouths with cold delicious ice-cream tomorrow”. It sounded like I got a bonus wish with the school. Finally I went to sleep and set my alarm for 10 o’clock.

Image result for wishThe ring tone travel through my ears to my brain and it was telling me to get up. I hopped out of bed and walked not rushing to get down to the kitchen. When I reached my destination everyone was rushing in their school uniform rushing to get to school. All my siblings rushed out the door and lined up to get out of the door for school. A kiss from each one of them were transported from one sibling to the next. “There you are”, Mum looked at me with a relieved face. She pushed back upstairs to my room , got me changed like I was a five year old and told me, “sweetie remember you have 10 minutes to get to school”. Dad wasn’t home mum had turned crazy and I had just remembered I have exhausting dancing class after school.

As the school day finished I thought about the wish that I made and how it didn’t work. The day was ok and dancing had started, but I was not there. I made an appearance to the dance class but I only popped in to say that I had something wrong with me and I can’t dance today. When I said I had something wrong with me, I wasn’t lying. My wishes came true!!! I laid on my bed and wished that I would know why the no school wish did not happen. A few seconds later the words popped out of my mouth, “I know why, my wishes last for until the end of that day!”.

Image result for wishIt has been weeks since I had learned how to wish, but I think I have improved on how to wish. I have told a few people but some did not believe me. The secret is out and a knock on the door is made. “Does the wisher really live here?” somebody said as I watch from the very top of the stairs. My mother shut the front door and told me to hide where nobody but her could see me. I hide behind the door she open the front door back open again and there were so many people on her front lawn. She replied to the news man with, “yes, but if you come inside my house I will call the police”. In the front of the big cue was the news and they slam the door against me. I felt woozy and felt like I was going into a spiral of confusion. With all my strength I closed the door and called mum to rush to the hospital. “I wish for me to go to hospital” I wished. We got there in 3 minutes and rushed to Emergency Department.

I laid in the MRI machine looking at all the animals from the zoo. I talked to myself telling me what animals were which. I fainted and didn’t what I was doing except for that one moment. I woke up to my surprise I was in bed with a sandwich and juice by my side. Surrounding my bed was my mother, my great grandpa, my sisters and my father. I was lying with my eyes half open. I close my eyes again and wished for McDonald's for lunch. I opened my eyes and there was nothing, no McDonald's. “Yay!!” I shouted. It gave a big terrified shock to everyone surrounding my hospital bed. “I can’t wish, tell the news that..” I continued,”..I can’t wish anymore!!!!!!”.  My dream since the news and everything had come true.

Just to make it clear, this story is made up by me. I have learnt that made up story's can be long and you can go crazy with it. This post came a bit late because I had a test. This took me a while to write it because it is so long. I am used to writing like I am talking so I made up a story about me wishing.

The Lost Island (continues)

WALT: (a) Writing that tells a story (Usually fiction).
There they were in the middle of the sea, Sammy and Thomas. Getting ready to go to the lost island. The only way they could get there was in their big invisible boat. It was the size of a cruise. Sammy had been there before but he wanted to take Thomas.
They brought canoes to canoe there. When they got there they were surprised about the earthquake that hit them. Sammy didn’t know about this but they help the people there. Stored in their big ship, they gave food and water to the people and slept the night.

The first earthquake didn’t hurt anyone, but this second did not just hurt somebody but killed. It killed Thomas and everyone was in for a big nasty shock in the morning… Thomas died!
Sammy did not know a lot about the island just that it was safe but he was wrong. Thomas was getting worse. His hair was gray instead of blonde, he lost weight, he was smaller lights pole on the street. Sammy twenty third birthday was coming up and he didn’t want to have a birthday without his best friend. It was kinda cheesy but I guess that’s Sammy.
The people on the island kept disappearing into the bushes and Sammy was worried. One time when they went to the bushed, Sammy followed them and they were having a meeting. He listen but he couldn’t really hear them it was like they were speaking another language. To hear them clear, he moved forward just a bit and he was right the first time that they were speaking another language.
This changed everything, he wondered if they killed Thomas and blamed it on the earthquake. But why, they had nothing against Thomas. After wondering this they put potion into a weird big bowl and said some weird words. They put poured the magic potion into a tube and wrote on the tube, ‘Thomas’. Sammy did not know if the magic potion was made to heal Thomas or to, make him disappear.

Another night was coming and Sammy was keeping a close eye on Thomas. The Island people poured the potion into Thomas’ mouth and he started to blink. Everyone disappear like they teleported, everyone except for Sammy and Thomas. Sammy released that the people on the island had something special about them. Both of the boys got off the boat and their in the air was all people that lived on the island. They were fairies and that's why they did not get hurt in the natural disasters.
