This week we have been learning about a team called keri red who plays football or also called soccer. The book is called Go Red.

Franz Ferdinand was shot by a crazy man, he was in his car with his wife at this time. Lots of people mostly soldiers were going for the crazy man and lots of people were going for Franz Ferdinand. This is how the war began.

That shot was called "the shot that echoed around the world”. It was a really sad shot, but our soldiers fought in the war for us. 

For us to remember there is a saying it’s "lest we forget". We must remember people who fought for our country.

The troops of New Zealand and of Australian were called ANZAC's. We wear poppy to remember them. Some of the names are written on the wall in the Auckland museum. I know one of them, he was my Papa.

The Commonwealth Games         

The Commonwealth games often called the friendly games, has a unique place in sporting history. It is an international multi-sport event like the Olympics, except athletes from the Commonwealth countries. This includes countries like England, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

The first games were held in 1930 in Hamilton,Canada. Eleven Countries sent four hundred athletes to take part in six sports and fifty nine events. Since then the games have been held every four years. However in 1942 and 1946 the games were cancelled because of the second word war.

The event has had many changes, even it’s name. In 1930 to 1950 the games were known as the British Empire games. Later, from 1970 to 1974 they took the title of British Commonwealth games. Finally, at the 1978 games Edmonton, Canada this multi sport change it’s name to the commonwealth games.

My Term 2 Holiday Highlight

My Holiday Highlight

My holiday highlight was all about waking up really early in the morning and going to the garage at my Aunty's house for an something every day for the first week.  If you guessed art course you're right, but you probably didn't though. Did I just you want to hear more, well it all started…     So my Dad,sister,brother and other family members went to Samoa so we had to say goodbye at the airport.Of course we did. After we went  to see them off we went to Carl’s Junior for dinner with my two other sister’s and my Mum. The next day we went to my Aunty’s house with no stops for food or anything but luckily my Mum brought food.

Once we got there we had dinner and went to bed. Well I was in bed I was thinking about waking early to have my breakfast and that’s what happened. But then the doorbell started to ring. It was the people from the art course and I had to meet everyone and it was hard trying to meet 14 people. The next day one more person came and I had to meet him to. After the morning art course with the people over the age of 8 the afternoon kids came. But they were the age of 8 years old or younger. I had to help my Aunty do the little kids art course. It was sort of fun but really loud. Third day of the art course I meet a friend who always sat next to me. She was really friendly and nice.

I had the best time at the art course. My highlight of my holiday highlight was at the end of the art course we had an expression to show our work to our parents. It would be funny if my cousins, went because their Mum knew everything about what they were doing.
